A recent project at Rogers Methodist Church in South Monroe County meant more to the Donny’s Propane team than a routine tank change. The work included repairing multiple leaks and updating the church’s propane piping system to meet current standards.

Historic buildings often require a thoughtful approach. Existing systems may have been installed or changed at different times, and today’s service needs must be balanced with respect for the property and the people who care for it. At Rogers Methodist Church, the first priority was to address the known issues and leave the congregation with a safer, updated system.

More than a competitor tank swap

The original service call involved changing the church from another propane provider. Once the system was evaluated, the scope went beyond exchanging a tank. Multiple leaks needed repair, and portions of the piping required upgrades.

That is why a propane-provider change should include more than setting a different company’s tank. The connected system matters too. A careful evaluation helps identify conditions that should be corrected before normal service continues.

A project with a personal connection

Rogers Methodist Church also has a special connection to the McKinney family. Numerous family members are laid to rest there, giving the project added meaning for Donny McKinney. He personally oversaw the operation from the assessment through the completed work.

For the Donny’s team, serving local institutions is both a professional responsibility and a community commitment. Churches, farms, homes, and businesses across Monroe County are part of the same communities where our employees live and work.

What customers can learn from this project

If you are changing propane providers, renovating an older property, or bringing an inactive system back into service, ask for the entire propane system to be evaluated—not only the tank. Piping, connections, regulators, placement, and the appliances served all play a role in safe operation.

If you smell gas or suspect a leak, leave the area, avoid switches or ignition sources, and contact emergency services and your propane provider from a safe location. Do not try to repair a propane leak yourself.
